Today we’d like to introduce you to Ileana Perez.
Hi Ileana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Ileana Perez. I am the owner and lead designer of Hello Crafted. I started Hello Crafted in 2019 after being in charge of party decorations for my father’s 60th birthday party. Crafting became an outlet to de-stress from my 9-5 job at the time, which was in higher education business administration at a local university. Since I had a business background and knew I wanted to start my own small business one day, I decided to take a chance and establish Hello Crafted. In January 2020, I decided to take an in-person balloon class with a local balloon business and fell in love with balloon décor and expanded Hello Crafted to offer balloon décor services.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth ride as expanding into balloon décor in the midst of the pandemic was less than ideal since big celebrations were canceled throughout the year. Resources became scarce at times since factories around the world closed due to the pandemic. I quickly learned that some factors are out of my hands and that maintaining a positive attitude was key. I used the time to further my skills and brainstorm ideas for Hello Crafted.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Hello Crafted offers balloon décor, custom t-shirts, signs and cups. Hello Crafted’s mission is to spread cheer with our balloons. We create arrangements for all types of celebrations, no matter the size of the event. I am proud that I was able to expand my business in amidst a global pandemic. I am also proud that I was able to turn my free time into an opportunity to expand my skills.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as having freedom, health and love.
