Daily Inspiration: Meet D’ambria Jacobs

Today we’d like to introduce you to D’ambria Jacobs.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have had a love for food since I was a little girl. I would run through the garden eating fresh fruits & vegetables. I knew in my spirit I would end up working with food. My first job was in hospitality as a hostess from the moment I smelled the rolls, I was home. I enjoyed my job but still knew I needed more education, I attended the University of Houston Bauer college of business. In 2014 I started Sophisticated Delights Contemporary Catering. My ability to push through tough situations & power through long nights allowed me to not only run a business but grow into a multi-location Award-winning catering company with my own line of organic seasonings & Marinades called NeverBland. I pride myself in creating not just good food but nostalgic moments, moments your friends & family will love.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing will be smooth sailing the entire time, even the most glamorous of roads have bumps. I have survived hurricanes, floods, artic freezes, horrible employees, you name it. It is more important to remember the lesson each obstacle taught because life nor business get easy, you just get better!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a Chef I cook to express myself. The way you can travel to places in one bite is remarkable and so intriguing. I specialize in Southern Fusion. My menu includes food from over ten countries and counting. I offer options for all events, I offer private chef and Travel Chef options were you can hire me to come elevate your dining experience. Let my award-winning catering company Sophisticated Delights take care of your wedding, social or corporate event. Her Newest Company, NeverBland Seasonings & Marinades, was a labor of love to bring Chef Dee’ s vision to homes across american. The most proud I’ve been as a business owner because this brings my love to everyone, It is an organic blend using himalayan pink salt, a mix of delicious and thoughtful items. A night with me isn’t just dinner, it’s a trip, whether down the street or around the world. A Detour with Chef Dee is nothing short of Delicious!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
As a child, my most fond memories were in the garden with my grandpa Homer. The most peaceful place for me as a child was outside. It was calm and fresh and it just the bright silence that made it perfect. I would spend afternoons with him and he would teach me about different fruits and vegetables, how they grow and that hard work yields fruit. The smallest things in my life always found a way to make it back to food. I’m so grateful for all of the people and moments that helped mold me.
