Conversations with Jasmine Romero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Romero.

Hi Jasmine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. We moved to Texas almost two years ago from our home town. My passion has always been educating our youth in all and any way possible. I started my career as a Early Childhood teacher at Alice Harte Elementary school in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2013. In 2018 I started my own non-profit called Youth unlimited. Youth Unlimited is an organization that helps with youth’s health, wellness and economic empowerment. My oldest, Jaylen, 9, has launched off our youth economic empowerment program. She has inspired so many of our youth to want to start and own their own businesses; it is mind-blowing. We just launched my other daughter’s business Eye-Catching Kids. Jaci is five years old and she is selling kids sunglasses. In 2019 I Kinderdance of The Woodlands and Jazzy Dolls. These organizations are kids health and fitness programs. We offer classes in Gymnastics , Dance ( Hip-hop majorette dancing is high-energy) and yoga classes to the youth in the community. We are actually starting back in June 2021 at our Spring location. Jazzy Dolls is an Urban youth Dance team ages 2-14 years old. We want to have something to allow my girls to get a little sassy and have some fun doing it. Kinderdance is a Gymnastics program for 2-5 year olds. Teaching them the fundamentals of gymnastics. In 2020 I started Jazzy bags, All that Jazz events, Mini bags and Jazzy Dolls. Jazzy bags and Mini bags are retail companies my daughter (Mini Bags nine years old) and myself Jazzy bags retails Kids Fanny packs and mini-book bags. All that Jazzy event is my event planning business. You can follow our page All that Jazz Event on Facebook. I host and create fun and exciting events for businesses to sell their products as well as having kids activities to make each and every event Family Fun days. This is basically what we have going on so far.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes of course! It is always a struggle when venturing off on your own. I can’t tell you how many late nights and early mornings I have had. I often get asked how do you do it. It is very hard to be an entrepreneur. Many sleepless nights up thinking about your next big thing. It is all worth it in my opinion. I love what I do and it will just get better and better with time. I have a great and supportive partner who is behind me every step of the way. He motivates me and pushes me to my fullest potential. I owe a lot to him and will forever be in his debt. I had to put a hold on Kinderdance of the Woodlands due to Covid. I hate Covid but it is the reason why we started the rest of our businesses. I needed something that I could ship out with really no contact to customers .

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I think that sets me apart from others is you can see my passion in everything that I do. I put everything into my businesses. I always make sure that I have excellent communication, customer service and professionalism. This is something rare with businesses. I have experienced so many unprofessional and horrible customer service business and I pride myself on making sure I am not one of them.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Yes, my partner Jaron Miller. He makes the impossible possible. He always pushes me to my fullest potential and never allows anything less from me. His expectations of me are so high it makes me want to make him proud and do my thing, lol. I don’t have any employees, it’s just me doing it all. I love it but you have to put a lot of effort and time into it to make it amazing . Things don’t always go as planned. You have to be very flexible and sometimes just go with the flow of things.
