Meet Decorian Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Decorian Johnson.

Hi Decorian, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
So my musical journey started in high school with a group of my friends. We used to go to one of my boyz houses and record random songs just for fun not thinking to much into it but it was then in those moments that I knew I enjoyed making music; unfortunately, at the time, I was consumed by sports so music wasn’t my first love. Fast forward to college I was reintroduced to a real studio by another one of my friends I used to come home from college and just be in the studio supporting him it was then one day he asked me to record a song and from that moment I never stopped again. I would come home from school in the summers and record as much as I could but once my dream of sports shattered due to injury in Kansas City Rooking mini camp that when my love for music grew. After dropping music, I was overwhelmed with the support and now I’ve catapulted to where I am today with dropping my first project called “feng shui” this year on my birthday Jan. 25.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To be honest, I think every story has those bumps in the road, and mine is no different. I went through a lot of emotions to get to where I am today. My mental health was a big part of my music journey. I was at a point in my life where I felt like the world was on my shoulders, but it was through this time my passion for music grew.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist/musician I make music from the heart. What I’m most proud of when it comes to being an artist is the impact you have on people to be able to touch people hearts and to give them a message through music is gratifying to let them know they’re not alone or to take someone from sad to happy it’s just amazing. What’s sets me apart is the fact that I implement all emotions into my music if I’m happy, sad, mad or whatever I let my emotion flow through my music which helps listeners connect to something that real.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Something I learned along my journey is to continue moving forward regardless of the outcome to set goals high but to understand that it’s a step by step to the process to reach them. And most of all to enjoy every moment on along the journey.
