Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Raiford.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started working in the Aesthetics industry over 15 years ago. I developed a passion for it all after witnessing it empower men and women of all ages and races to embrace their beauty. I loved making clients feel good about themselves. Laser hair removal became a growing trend and I began training and working under some of the best professionals in Houston. I was fulfilled not only by the results-driven satisfaction that customers feel but also because each session is such a personal experience and I really enjoy getting to know people and hear their stories. I remember a client who burst into tears after I treated her facial hair. She told me she had been struggling with feeling feminine and I knew right then this was an industry I wanted to flourish in and I haven’t stopped since.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There has been a few challenges here and there but when the opportunity presented itself to branch out on my own…West U Laser was born. Sure it was risky, being in the middle of a pandemic and all, but I was up for the challenge and expected the demand to be high once the country started opening back up. I was looking forward to seeing familiar faces and helping clients feel like themselves again. Was I nervous? Absolutely, but as a person who likes to indulge in self-care myself…I had to stay positive that clients would come and my journey would continue. I mean, who isn’t ready to feel good about themselves again? After 2020, we all deserve a little “me time”.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about West U Laser?
It is important for clients to know that West U Laser is a judgment-free zone. Some sessions can be extremely personal and I pride myself on discretion, comfort and relatability. I want my clients to sense that their time is valued. When we are behind those closed doors, it’s just you & I, hence West U Laser’s boutique-style approach. I specialize in treating all skin tones and types by utilizing two different laser hair removal machines that treat skin types I – VI safely and efficiently. Laser hair removal is permanent hair reduction that can be done on both the face and body.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Being able to sync my personal and professional life effortlessly defines success to me. When you genuinely love what you do, it’s like getting to have the best of both worlds. I get to run a successful business with my own creative flair and engage with my clients all while having the freedom and flexibility to still have a personal life. I also feel like at the end of the day, only you get to decide if you are 100% fulfilled. I can honestly say, at this moment, I am but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to do better, go bigger and thrive.
