Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramesha Nicole.
Hi Ramesha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi there! My name is Ramesha Nicole and I’m the COO & Founder of Finance Therapy & Co. I’m an International Educator, Financial Empowerment Coach, Podcaster and Transformational Speaker. I’m also known as The Internal Debt Collector™ because I seek to help millennial women of color heal their unidentified mama trauma in order to live purposefully and financially free. I’m originally from Houston, TX. and former elementary educator turned full-time entrepreneur.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
One of my biggest challenges has been leaving a steady income. I was an elementary educator for over 12 years. This journey has taught me to trust God and deeply depend on him. It’s also taught me how to get out of my own way and trust in my abilities more confidently.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Finance Therapy & Co., LLC is a coaching and consulting business that focuses on the holistic approach to financial freedom. The motto of the business is: “Healed trauma makes room for freed finances.” While most financial companies focus on budgeting, credit, investing and money management, we seek to unpack the relation between mental and emotional trauma and financial decisions.
The reason the business is named Finance Therapy & Co., is because in September 2020, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depressive mood disorder. It was during my tenure in a 6-week outpatient intensive therapy program that I realized the impact unhealed trauma plays in how we live our day to day lives, pursue life’s purpose, show up often as a false version of ourselves (that ultimately impacts how you spend money), as well as manage finances.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
In January 2021, God called me off of my job to pursue this business full-time. It was very uncomfortable from the normal 9-5 (well 8am until you’re finished with work in education) that I was used to. When you take risks, you learn things about yourself that you didn’t know. It teaches you really how to face your fears. Fear teaches you to keep going and to slay more giants like self-doubt, insecurities, perfectionism, etc. Without risks, there is no reward.
