Today we’d like to introduce you to Kingsley Idemudia.
Kingsley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story in real estate began on the plane back to Houston from a teaching conference. I was looking for a business to start and I opened my Forbes magazine and saw many people on the list dealt with real estate. So I decided to jump in. I started dealing with investment properties finding it for other established investors in the area. I still remember doing cold calls during my break before the kids got in. I left teaching 2 1/2 years after that. I later got my realtor license on the advice of my late sister Toya and I haven’t looked back since. I find joy in with their real estate needs. Being a realtor has really expanded how I can help people. Beginning investors are always coming in the market and need help with finding investments which I do and I also give free advice on it on my YouTube channel CallKingsley. But the average person needs help listing their home or buying one and with my knowledge from investments, it really allows me to give my clients better value.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing is ever smooth. When I left teaching, I didn’t have a million bucks in the bank and finances were tight, I counted every penny lol and I was already cheap. I was still very new to the business. Five months into full business life my sister got into a bad car wreck. Almost a year later, two days before my birthday she passed. Dealing with that heavy loss, my first child wasn’t even one yet was a lot of stress I didn’t anticipate. If it wasn’t for my wife, family and getting closer to GOD, I don’t know where I would be mentally. When times get hard, I just think about my little sister and know I still have a purpose to fulfill.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My organization helps individuals list, buy or invest in residential property. We specialize in helping sellers get the top dollar for their property while helping them save on hidden costs. For buyers, we help in saving on hidden closing costs as well. For investors, we help find off market and marketed deals. We help many new investors find the property, help with connect them with contractors for the job. We also help manage the projects for all clients. What sets me apart is my experience with contracts and understanding the markets for my clients. I could also give you cliché items that set me apart but to be honest, my work ethic and my integrity is what I lean on with my clients. I use my attitude that help me with teaching kids. Meet them where there are at (as far as needs) show them that you care and things will fall into place.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Real market is hot right now, but everyone knows what goes up must come down and vice versa. As the market shifts, I will help my clients by educating them on the market at the time they are looking to buy, sell or invest. Housing prices are high right now because of low inventory and the cost to build a house has gone up. But as interest rates creep up, the market may not be able to sustain the high prices. Only time will tell.
