Hi LaKisha, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
I am LaKisha Mosley, serial entrepreneur, mom, and all-around powerhouse! I have a blog where I talk about business, family, faith and love. I also have an event planning agency that I pivoted to all digital last year. I help my clients showcase their products and services digitally by creating virtual experiences that grow their brand’s visibility and profitability.
How did you get started with virtual events?
When COVID shut down all in-person events, I had to find a way for my clients to still get in front of their audiences. With social distancing guidelines in place, it was hard to execute events without putting people at risk. I started researching other virtual platforms besides Zoom where I could still facilitate my client’s event and possibly add a little flair to them.
What do you love about blogging?
I love being able to share my experiences with others. Blogging gives me a voice that may not always be heard. I am able to share tips and hacks as well as share relevant information that hopefully will help others.
What are some advantages of hosting virtual events?
There are so many advantages to hosting virtual events. 1. Virtual events help grow your brand by keeping you visible.
2. It grows your revenues. You are able to use the content from virtual events in various ways to make money.
3. They brand you as an expert and a resource in your area of genius.
4. Helps you build your network by reaching more people globally.
What is the best way to keep consistent content for your blog?
Batching is king!!! In order to always have content for your blog you must batch your content. I normally take Tuesdays and Thursdays to create my content for at least two weeks in advance. Because I do this consistently, I am able to sometimes skip a week in batching. On the days that I batch, I start by creating my blog posts. I then insert my images into each post including tags and SEO information. Then I schedule them.
Are virtual events here to stay? Why or why not?
Virtual events are certainly here to stay. I don’t think anyone will totally feel safe regarding gathering in large crowds. I certainly don’t feel safe, vaccine or not. However, businesses have seen the value of virtual events and have noticed how many more people they can reach by curating virtual events. I think hybrid will become popular because it fuses virtual and in-person events together. Virtual events are cost-effective, help businesses be more visible on a global level and they can increase revenues.
How easy or hard is it to start a blog?
It’s very easy to start a blog but may be difficult to maintain if you don’t have a lot of content to share. I would say if you start blogging at least once a week that is great but the content must be good and relevant to the audience you share it with.
