Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Anderson.
Julia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out doing some freelance social media and website work for about two years while working in a full-time corporate position, not exactly related to digital marketing. I started to realize each day that I loved creating content, working on websites, and connecting with people more and more. An unfortunate series of events lead to me leaving my full-time position, and I knew that was the moment I needed to go for it! The day after my corporate job came to an end, I jumped in headfirst and started Milk & Honey Digital. Today, we offer web design, social media management, graphic design, and email marketing services and have had the opportunity to work with clients across the country!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning your own business is never easy. The parts you love are easy, but the administrative side which can be less than fun. Figuring out your own processes, in the beginning, can be a bumpy road, such as onboarding a new client or creating reports. But learning from mistakes early on can definitely help you be more successful in the long run!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do digital marketing and specialize in web design, social media management, graphic design, and email marketing. I’m mostly known for web design and social media because I am heavily involved in these kinds of projects. I track industry competitors in my clients’ metrics and am able to tell how we do against other major players. I’m most proud of out-performing a handful of social media giants for over 12 months straight (and still going!).
I think what sets me apart from others is that when you hire Milk & Honey Digital, you aren’t hiring a team of people you’ve never talked to. You are hiring me. You will have access to ask questions and talk to me directly, so you know exactly what is going on with your project at any given time.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think the biggest risk I’ve taken is starting my company. In my family, we call it “jumping off the cliff.” That day, I could have gone and found another corporate job, but I knew that I needed to follow my passion and “jumped off the cliff,” and it’s absolutely the best risk I’ve ever taken.
