Rising Stars: Meet Tracie Parzen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracie Parzen.

Hi Tracie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I had two home based businesses while raising my daughters, but when Covid hit and cut our household income down significantly, I knew I needed to begin to contribute in a much more significant way. I love people, sales has always been fun for me and I have a very entrepreneurial spirit. I love a good challenge. I had been thinking of going into real estate for a while and the economic devastation wrought by Covid gave me the push that I needed. In May of last year, I signed up for the courses. It was challenging with two little ones at home and no childcare, but I made it through real estate school and started my new career early this year. It was the year of the pivot for so many of us!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Trying to study with two little ones at home (and ALWAYS at home during quarantine) presented its own set of challenges. Diving into a new industry after so many years out of the work force is an exercise in overcoming fears, doubts and insecurities. I’m sure a lot of women can relate to this! I wasn’t sure if I could handle passing the courses, learning the ropes in an entirely new business and just generally existing in the professional world. Dressing professionally after living in leggings for an entire year is no joke!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a real estate agent, I help people navigate the very intimidating journey of buying and/or selling a home. It can be a long and fraught process. For some, it’s exciting and for others the change has been forced upon them. No matter the situation, I have the privilege of guiding my clients through every stage of it. More than anything, I want my clients to be happy in their new homes. I want them to feel like they have an advocate, a resource and a friend in me. I have such strong sense of duty that my clients always know that meeting their particular needs is my top priority.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Starting a new career in your 40s can be intimidating, no matter the industry. But as women, we are the masters of reinvention! My advice to anyone considering a career in real estate or really any career change at all is to go for it. Just try! Trust yourself, know that you don’t have to know everything just to begin. There is always a day one, always a first step.
