Rising Stars: Meet Imole-Ayo Odeneye Ladipo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Imole-Ayo Odeneye Ladipo. Them and their team share their story with us below:

She grew up in Nigeria with a large family. From a young age, she has been involved in one form of the arts or another. She has a bubbly personality and a contagious smile that lights up a room. It is no coincidence that the name Imole is interpreted as “Light” in her native language.

Imole moved from Nigeria to Canada to continue her studies and had quite the culture shock changing from a tropical climate to the cold weather of Alberta Canada. She also had to overcome a lot of the cultural differences between both continents. This experience played a crucial role in developing her character and perseverance.

Imole went to University for Engineering but remained an active member of her church and was involved in the Choir and Youth department throughout. She graduated from University then married the love of her life in 2014.

Imole had always been interested in modernizing the way her church operated so when her husband bought her a camera for Christmas she jumped at the opportunity to develop short videos for announcements. Little did she know that the announcements were just the beginning of her finding her lifelong passion. She fell in love with the process of video production and created Lumiere Films. Her vision was to use videos as a means for spreading positivity based on the fundamentals of Christian values. Since the purchase of the camera, Imole has created multiple short movies that have been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people online. Imole currently works as an Engineer and uses her technical background to plan and organize her movie development. Imole, her husband and their three beautiful children now live in Houston,Texas. We believe we will be hearing and watching some great faith-based films from them from time to time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I hear this question, I laugh in my native language…haha. Starting a business in itself is not an easy task nor is it a smooth road. Now starting a business when you have a family is even on a different level of rough road especially for a woman. I find as a woman I tend to put myself last on the hierarchy of needs in the family. One of the struggles I’ve had to face is actually finding the time to work on those awesome story ideas the holy spirit has inspired in my heart so I tend to work when everyone has slept and/or in the early hours of the morning.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a storyteller. I love to put the mind of God in a film. I love to package a God-given message on the screen for all to see. I did it all in the beginning part of this business but I figured I am best as a film director and producer. I am known for being artistic and telling faith-based stories.

I am most proud of my strong belief in Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus died for me, the least I can do is to live for and in Him. I am also proud of the gifts God has given me, which I was ashamed of in my early years because of my “Jack of all arts” personality but I have come to appreciate all my God-given talents and gifts now because everything points me back to storytelling.

I am set apart to tell a great relatable faith-based storytelling with great picture quality. I have operated the cameras, I have directed, I have produced, I have edited before so I understand how everything ties together and that sets me apart.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
If the pandemic has taught us anything it’s that life is unpredictable and that our life here on earth is very brief so living life to the fullest should be the goal. I recently lost my Grandma, not to Covid-19 but I lost her in this pandemic season and one thing she always say is “Life is beyond just you, always remember to pay it forward”- I believe that should be the reminder for us all. I use this pointer every time I am about to tell a story because I know God wants to reach someone out there with that story.
