Community Highlights: Meet Quentin Wilson of Q Way Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quentin Wilson.

Hi Quentin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
It all started when I was little. I was always tearing things apart and putting them back together. I always had the mastermind to figure out how are why and how to make something better/work. I love the idea of making something much better than what it was and making it 10 X’s better. I was exposed to working on houses and remodeling them with my uncle as a young boy. At the time, I was just having fun and doing it for fun with them, In my young adulthood my Grandma wanted to get her bathroom remodeled, she found a company that would remodel her bathroom. I felt that they gave her an outrageous estimate for her bathroom. So, I decided that I would remodel my grandmother’s bathroom on my own. After that project I decided that I wanted to build my own motorcycle shop, I said to myself if I can build this on my own I can do anything. I worked night and day on my motorcycle shop while maintaining a full-time job at the refinery. After I finished my shop I realized that this was my gift, I enjoy doing this I want to make this into my career making other people happy.

I came up with the name for my construction business Q-WAY-SERVICES from working in the refinery in Texas City, TX. All of my co-workers always called me “Q” for short (nickname) the “WAY” comes from my co-workers always saying “If Q isn’t doing it or it’s not his way then it’s not right” I feel that when I put my hands on something I want it to be done correctly and 100% effort put into the job. If it’s not done the Q- WAY, WAY then it’s not done right in my eyes.

I am the general contractor and owner of Q WAY SERVICES I play whatever position that is needed in my business to get the job done, I’m the material guy, estimator, scheduler, and worker, Q-Way Services serves as a construction company that serves in commercial, residential, and industrial. Q Way Services remodels from the ground up. “When it comes to construction we do our best to relieve the stress.”

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest obstacles that I faced would be underbidding myself. My first business job was a job that I took on after Hurricane Harvey. I was trying to help a customer get back into their home. I underbid myself and I was taken advantage of. overall that was a learning experience and an affirmation that one minor setback was the beginning of a major comeback. Another obstacle and challenge were losing a lot of family and friends and me-time. I put my business first and everything that was important, second, I birthed Q Way Services into what it is today from making those sacrifices. I would say one of my biggest challenges and tasks still to this day would be giving my estimates/quotes I never want to overcharge or undercharge I want to give the best service I can. I still underestimate myself times, overall I want to thank God first and foremost for pushing my dream into the forefront of my life. I want to thank my family and friends who stood beside me through it all. My dream is to one day make Q Way Services into a multi-million dollar empire.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
