Meet Lee Davis Jr of Eazywork Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Davis Jr.

Hi Lee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began on my journey of self-discovery in late 2010; I saw myself in an unfamiliar position if was nearing 300lbs and if my family hadn’t said something to me, I’m sure I would’ve been in a much worst position. I decided that day (thanksgiving) that I would get back in shape. Majority of my life, I’ve been an athlete, but my current lifestyle had given me way too much comfort and I began abusing my body with food and alcohol.

So that evening me and my little brother went for a jog and went to a local park and we did some calisthenics, and then we kept doing that daily rain sleet or snow; we jumped rope jogged and did calisthenics. I started losing weight and folks around me noticed and they wanted to join in. They would say my journey was inspiring.

We started with a few young men in the park just wanting more out of life to having hundreds of people coming out to join the movement. I landed my first pro athlete (Boxer Willie Monroe Jr) in 2011/2012 and we both elevated each other’s careers to new heights. Winning world titles traveling the world, we went from friends to brothers. I had a lot of success in my city during a lot of work in the community gave me a lot of notoriety with youth and adults. Working with group homes, prisons, schools and putting on my own events that would help impact lives in a major way.

This went on for almost ten years but then I felt as if my life was somewhat stagnant and I knew I wanted more. But I felt as if I reached my peak in my city. So I was interested in relocation and I chose Houston, TX. I loved the fact that people were finding financial freedom there with the most black millionaires in the country and a growing market for real estate. I train at All En Sports Performance, where I specialize in mobility & flexibility, combat training, strength & conditioning, personal training.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
None of my journeys has been a smooth road; I’ve just always showed up for the work. My obsession with wanting to be better gives me a never-ending hunger to progress. I have children and they have needs so my fire will never go out. As a pioneer in my city, I saw plenty of replication of my ideas, movements and programs. They say mimicking is a form of flattery. So I didn’t take it; personally, I enjoy seeing the seeds that I planted. Things weren’t always light and love tho, I’ve had people still my ideas for themselves and undercut my funding; I’ve had jealousy in my camp of the success I’ve accumulated. I’ve been a black sheep in my family because I didn’t follow the script.

Losing my father at a very critical time in my life was devastating. I had to learn how to grow emotionally so that I can continue to be the father and businessman that my family needs me to be. I’ve always taken the road less travelled. Ive never taken the eazy route because I knew the growth wouldn’t be as satisfying. But this became tiring so with spiritual growth, I’ve learned how to flow with divine timing. So that life is less abrasive on my mind, body and spirit. Learning to live a balanced lifestyle was pivotal for my growth and development.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk-Taking is essential with growth; I live my life with no safety net. This is how I’m able to reach the levels of success that ive achieved. At one point of time, I was juggling four jobs making money and creating a comfortable life for my family. But I was left at the end of the day with a sense of unfulfillment. So I quit all my jobs and focused on my business full time; within a year, I had the biggest fitness movement my city had ever seen, having hundreds of people in attendance for my community workouts, taking trips to NYC and training with the Bartendaz, performing on stage with the LOX in concert to fighting on ESPN SHOWTIME and HBO PPV. If I listened to the doubts and fears of others, I would’ve never tasted the sweet victories of success or the heartbreaking losses. What you see today is the sum of all of those experiences and that was only the first ten years of my journey; the world is my oyster and I plan on exploring the whole ocean.

Moving to Houston at the end of 2020 was very scary for me. I dont have a real foundation down here; just shear determination got me to where I am today. Not knowing what tomorrow has in store can be nerve-wracking but my faith keeps me grounded and comforts me, my gifts continue to teach me and my heart leads me. So if you are second-guessing yourself, I say stop! Today is the day that you realize you are enough!!!
