Hi Thanh, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I have primarily lived in Spring Branch all my life within a humble Asian American culture. My grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles first arrived here by boat in the 70s to live the American Dream. I started working full-time at the early age of 16, graduated from Cypress-Falls High school and the University of Houston-Downtown with a degree in Finance and Business. Most of my work experiences come from the retail and Oil & Gas Industry, but during 2016 Oil & Gas hit rock bottom, and by the time I knew it, that would be the last time I would be working in the Oil & Gas industry. With over ten years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry in the Logistics/Supply Chain department, my passion for detailing cars and my entrepreneurial mindset, I decided it was time to create a detailing business that is catered to the unique community of Houston.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has certainly not been a smooth road at all, but obstacles and challenges are what mold a successful company. Being a sole proprietor, everything falls on me, and I can only be at one place at one time. As a new business owner, you have to get used to wearing all the hats that are needed to maintain a healthy business. Early on in the business was a bit of a challenge as I had to learn to be the business owner, decision-maker, marketing manager, customer service, bookkeeper, accountant and did I forget anything? One other important challenge that I had was in 2020, and many people would forget about it since I am having a record-setting year in 2021 so far and it was a combination of two events.
In January 24, 2020, at 4 am the Watson Grinding Explosion happened and since we are located in West Branch, that happened about 600 feet from our house, which left us without a house for seven months which threw me in for a loop and I had to strategize around that. The other event was the Covid-19 pandemic that started with the lockdown in March 2020, which left me wondering how I was going to make it through 2020, but with a great reputation, network, and support from friends and family, I was able to get 2021 off to a great start.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Auto Essence Detailing?
I operate a mobile/home-based, family-oriented, and operated Detailing Service. Auto Essence Detailing offers mobile Detailing, automotive paint correction and automotive paint protection. I thrive on performing top-quality service, extraordinary efficiency, and the upmost highest level of professionalism with each of our clients. I am focused on protecting your investment while having the best intentions on maintaining customer relationships.
I use due diligence within each project and appointment made. Providing an easy-going experience that produces the best results, whether it is a wash and wax, interior cleaning, paint correction, ceramic coating or scheduled maintenance wash, is my priority. At this time, my three-year and six-year ceramic coating detail packages are quite popular right now since I use a tried and tested product at an unbelievably great price for my customers that is totally different from any other detailer in Houston right now and I am really proud of that. What sets you apart from others?
Houston is a unique and diverse city so it deserves a detailer like me who will do my best in my ability not just to properly clean and detail their vehicle but also educate each of my customers of any of their detailing questions, whether it’s just an interior clean, wash or coating. I have actually been detailing since the early 2000’s and I have seen and used just about every product on the market.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
All of the credit to my success belongs to the circle of family, friends, suppliers and customers. Every one of them has had a part in this journey and many more success stories to come. This story is still being written!
