Today we’d like to introduce you to Shania Gardner.
Hi Shania, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am 25 years old, and I am the founder, CEO, and Creative Director of Baby Shi. Just a little bit about us, we are a children’s company targeting those of the age (0-8 years). We offer a variety of products from clothing to accessories and very soon learning/(S.T.E.M). Here at Baby Shi, not only do we pride ourselves on being there for our customers, but being able to be “Every Kids’ Dream” by providing them with quality clothing for kids. We wanted to make sure we had quality clothing but also clothing that’s cute and versatile.
As for how we got started, once I discovered what career path I wanted to be in, which was the fashion industry, I knew I wanted to own my own company one day. I also knew I wanted to have a kids line but in the future. When I became a mother, the urge to start my children’s line became more of the forefront. I had a vision of what I wanted my company to look like, so when it came to launching day, I wanted to be sure that every potential customer saw the vision as well. I started with pop-up shops in a variety of places to get my feet wet, promote my business, and gain customers. Also, social media helped a lot when it came to promoting and growing my business as well.
As for today, Baby Shi is still here and striving to grow and be a better company every day. It’s not always easy, and there will be bumps in the road but, I always try to remind myself that if it was easy, everyone will do it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course not. I think everything in life comes with its own trials and tribulations. It’s just how you choose to confront it. When starting a business, you never know how it’s going to go. You just trust in God and take that chance on yourself. Is it going to be slow at first? Absolutely!
My company is fairly new, so starting off it was slow, which was to be expected. But I had to remember why I started my company and what my over all goal is that I’m trying to achieve. Another thing is support, and what I had to realize is that not everyone is going to see the value you see in your company like you, and no one is going to promote your business like you, and that’s just the reality of things. But the key is to keep pushing and moving forward regardless of who isn’t supporting you because there’s someone out there who will.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Baby Shi is a children’s company, targeting those of the age of (0-8 years). What makes Baby Shi so special is that we provide a variety of options to choose from. We wanted to make sure we had quality clothing but also clothing that’s cute and versatile. We hope that every child that comes in touch with an item is blessed and know that whatever you put your mind to, you can definitely achieve.
There’s so many different children’s companies in the world but, what sets us apart is that none of them are Baby Shi. Yes, we are new, so therefore we are still growing, but it’s the details that set us apart. We put a lot of time and energy to making our customers experience the best experience possible. Down from our customer service to our packaging, we really paid attention to the little details as a whole to bring the company full circle. Brand wise I am Proud of Baby Shi as a whole and the potential it has. I see Baby Shi up there with the big dogs if not further. I have faith in God that it will get there. He didn’t give me all of this just to leave me hanging and not do anything with it. So, I am trusting in him.
We are excited for what the future holds for Baby Shi. The fall season is coming, and we can’t wait for you guys to see it. We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I personally look at luck as what it is, something you say so nothing goes wrong or bad. I feel that prayer and faith is more of what I considered that played a role in my life and business. A saying I would say fits best is… “that was nobody but God.”
