Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Lippke.
Hi Britney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started with my own dog who’s the name sake of my company Koba. We started with a trainer and so many friends asked for some help with their dogs and I loved it. Growing up my grandfather owned two veterinary clinics in Conroe and I’ve always had a love for animals. I ended up working for a training company to learn more and eventually started my own business Koba’s Four Paws Institute. I’ve been open for almost 5 years now.
Just got my own facility and have my best friend working alongside me as my other trainer. We work with obedience, on and off leash board and trains, behavioral modification, service dog training, group classes and day training. I never thought I’d be running my own business and definitely never thought I’d have a facility almost 5 years in. I absolutely love what I do and being able to help owners build that bond with their dogs and work through any problem areas they have
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There’s definitely been struggles where I wasn’t sure what to do or where I wanted to be. I have a huge support team including my family and friends and no matter what they’ve been there to help in any way needed. I traveled to all of my clients for the first 4 years and it got hard trying to fit everyone in and not get burnt out.
We’ve been impressed with Koba’s Four Paws Institute, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I personally specialize in service dog training and obedience and my other trainer obedience and behavioral modification. We want everyone to be comfortable enough to trust us with their dogs and we are there for them every step of the way even when their dogs do go home. They are treated as our own family and we treat the dogs as our own with love and care.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
On a whim renting a facility and going in with a groomer to run the place. It’s somewhere we never thought we would be but it’s been the best thing to happen for us.
