Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Bess.
Alisha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After graduating college, I had so much free time and I felt like a piece was missing. I had a love and hate relationship with social media, because I felt like I wasn’t using it to my advantage. I was always complaining about not seeing enough “relatable” content, or seeing enough women of color in the cute “aesthetic” photos..
Then, one day, I decided to just get up and take pictures. I’ve started taking Instagram more seriously, and I’ve fallen more in love with myself in the process. There is a beauty in treating yourself like art, and capturing moments that others also enjoy. I realized that Instagram doesn’t have to consume you, but instead be used to inspire you.
With this new realization, I thought about how many people are missing out on all of the opportunities that social media can bring, so I decided that I wanted to help. I started the company Blac Market, a Social Media Management agency, which specializes in community creation and aesthetics. I’ve reached out to small business who don’t have a social media presence, and I’ve worked with brands who are well established. I love that I able to assist each brand with maximizing their exposure, and giving them the recognition that they deserve.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been easy, when it comes to social media there are many uncontrollable forces that may come your way. If you focus on yourself, and believe in every bit of what you’re doing then you will always have a positive outcome.
