Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Aghajani.
Hi Heidi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My love for aesthetics started at a very young age. You can’t be part of a big fat Persian family and not care about aging gracefully.
I started as a Registered Nurse at a big hospital in the medical center and then an opportunity fell in my lap. I was given a chance to be an OR nurse and later train as a first assistant to a well known plastic surgeon right here in Houston. I made a deal with him. I would train as a RNFA (nurse first assistant) if he’d teach me how to be an injector. I didn’t realize how the training would benefit me. During one his famous deep plane face lifts he would show me the muscles our neurotoxins affect and where we place filler. I have since traveled the world attending trainings. In this industry you have to go after it. It doesn’t come to you
10 years later, I am now beyond blessed and grateful to be an owner of one of the fastest growing Med Spas in the greater Houston area.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been smooth. Training is expensive. Some sacrifices had to be made. I had to work overtime in my full time job at the hospital to pay for my then side hustle. But I have always been a go-getter.
We opened our doors in a very small studio space in February of 2020. One month later everything was shut down due to the quarantine. I had spent every dollar I was left from my father’s passing. On supplies and the lease and insurance. The future was definitely uncertain. But I knew I offered a service women and men would want. I knew my years of training had to be for something. In May of 2020 we reopened and it’s been uphill from there.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Being a Nurse Injector is such a precious title and career. Imagine people trusting you with their face. Their face. That is a trust that I do not take lightly.
I am known as “Houston’s Lip Queen” and I love enhancing lips. For men and women young and older. It is amazing what some plump lips can do for the face and ones self esteem.
I am proud of our growth. We are 1.5 years old and coming up on our 1000th client. I am most proud of sharing this success with my family. My mom is our esthetician. I call her the “ethnic esthetician” because she does not hold back. Don’t come with a pimple because she will make sure you leave with it drained and zapped. My son and his girlfriend do my inventory and reception. My sister will be our laser tech and I just brought in a new injector who has the same vibe we do.
What sets us apart from others is that we are 1000% result driven. We are not revenue driven. Blessed to be a high volume spa so we don’t have to always focus on the bottom line. We are transparent. We are honest. And I am known to turn people away. Most recently someone traveled 5 hours to get a service I would not do because to me she had already overfilled her lips. She was very upset and offered me 3x what I charge because she wanted my technique. I would still not fill her lips. She later text me thanking me for my honesty.
I know many injectors in Houston that would have proceeded knowing it was not benefiting her.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Get to know your client. Where do they work. What do they do. How can you both mutually benefit from this relationship. Your client may be your next mentor!
As an injector you have to be humble. The industry is continuously changing. It’s okay to learn from your competitors. Learn from new injectors ejectors as you would from “pros”.
