Meet Damon Morris of Griff’s Catering in Pearland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damon Morris.

Damon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I took interest in culinary at a very young age learning how to cook by the age of 11 doing 3 years of home economics in high school. That led me to the Art Institute of Houston Primetime my degree in Restaurant catering and management and also political science.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been a little bumpy he’s a good some days are bad. When you start a business with your own money it’s always risky and when things fail it affects you more. Recent hurricane Harvey came through and changed a lot of things for my companies. I lost about 5 events and had to give back funds on those events which are really hard. But as they say no pain no gain right

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company came about 10 years ago and when I first started it I had no drive no vision no nothing I just know I love cooking and I wanted to start a company. So obviously that feels really bad. So 10 years later I decided to step out on faith and try it again and this year has been amazing.

What Griff does is specialize in making sure that your event goes off without a hitch. It’s sit down and we personalized menus to find out what I client needs and wants are. We also make sure we try to find out the budget what they can afford and what they can’t afford. Here in Houston I’m known for my stuff meatballs and my stuffed chicken drumsticks. What I’m most proud of is a company is the progress we’ve made in the last 10 months. And what sets us apart from everyone else is me, my passion and my drive is crazy and I won’t stop until everyone in Houston or taste my food and also getting it out of the state for Texas and reaching other parts of the country.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up in Houston was fine because all of my family was here. My siblings and my cousin’s always keep it interesting who are real family and that made a big difference in all of our lives.
