Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantel and Brandon Walker.
Hi Shantel and Brandon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Shantel: My story started with dreading going to work everyday and knowing that, in itself, meant it was time for a change. I felt trapped in a job that I was miserable in, and had outgrown it. With having the desire for more personal and financial freedom, as well as, wanting to build a legacy for our family were the motivating factors. I’ve always known that real estate was a means to wealth. I would always listen to motivational videos at work, along with how to make money fast, whatever I had an interest in at the time. I came across a video about wholesaling. The concept seemed simple, and it also was an opportunity to transition into real estate without having a lot of starting capital. I signed Brandon and myself up for a seminar and we were sold.
Brandon: At the time that Shantel signed us up for the seminar, I was content with my career that I had been in for over 15 years. My goal was to one day start my own business in my field of HVAC. Upon attending the seminar, I was sold.
The decision was made easier by not receiving certain promotions and/or positions that I was overqualified for.
Therefore, I decided not to let anyone else decide my worth and took a leap. Once we started, Coincidentally, upon talking to many homeowners on phone while on the job, I was fired and it allowed me to focus full time on our business. Now we are here.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. It started with not having mentors and having to go through trial and error on our own. It was a costly educational lesson, which also helped shape us to who we are today by appreciating our accomplishments more, being humble, and always available to help others who are in the shoes that we were in.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a family oriented real estate investment company that specializes in finding solutions for many real estate problems which includes helping distressed homeowners needing to sell their property due to various situations. Our most proudest moments are helping people who, in most cases, would have lost their home completely, damaged their credit, needed quick cash, and felt hopeless. We are also proud of our persistence of not giving up because we had in our mindset early on that failure is not an option. What sets us apart from others is our integrity, and professionalism in which we conduct our business. Also, the fact that we genuinely care.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being each others eyes and ears, combining our different perspectives and making wise decisions from that, keeping each other grounded, learning from others and our own mistakes, constantly educating ourselves with books, and videos. Having strong interpersonal skills with clients by being relatable and emphatic to their situation, and being able to network with other investors.
