Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabby Yanez.
Gabby, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Back in the 80’s, I would listen to radio shows and daydream about me being the person behind the mic and now and days still preferring to listen to a local radio station rather than use the Bluetooth or USB in the car, this is how I started the big little project called Unete Al Punto G.
As a Latin Woman who came back to this country 10 years ago after living 15 years in Monterrey NL Mexico….I opened a business of event planning and coordination, which made me also become an MC during events, realizing that I loved to do it and felt good about it!
Recently I was part of a local talent show that made me realize I loved to be in constant contact with people and it got more exciting when I saw how the audience to the live shows reacted to my participation. And one day during an interview of a friend of mine who imitates, I was asked if I wanted to do a show about real topics and speaking with a couple of businesses here in the city about sponsoring the show, we decided to go on with the project. Today we have 12 sponsors in our radio online talk show and we are about to go live in the FM during the month of November with our characters “La Chona y El Guapo”.
It’s amazing how everyday locals identify us in a crowd or even in the store while shopping groceries. I intend to go grow more in radio and not only bring entertainment to the locals but also contribute with the community with social matters.
Big plans is what I have with Platino Media Corporation which owns 3 important local radio stations and 2 online radio channels in the city of Houston TX
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely, not all has been smooth for me, switching from local to a public image is very dramatic and it does make you think about the responsibility to speak to the crowds.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a public radio show speaker and known for coordinating massive and social events locally taking care of the most minimum details and proud of always resolving any problem along in order to have an eventful and successful event. I would have to say that what sets me apart is the way I connect immediately with a person who I’ve just met and the way I treat anybody or anyone where ever I go..
Any big plans?
Yes like any other person I dream with becoming better everyday in what I do and of course prepare myself to fulfill everyone’s expectations especially mine.
