Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTonya Washington.
LaTonya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well I’ve always considered myself a “cool” nerd. I’ve always enjoyed reading, writing, etc. I attended Barbara Jordan High School for Careers and prior to entering high school, we had to select three career choices. Graphic Design was not one of my three , but I was placed there anyway, so that’s how I got into designing. It didn’t take long to grow on me . Over the years, I’ve designed for others . Things like flyers, invitations, easter baskets ,and so much more. One day I was having a conversation with a good friend about my designs and that led me to step out and start my own business. Created by Ton gives me a sense of purpose. It’s like my second child and I absolutely love bringing my customers visions to life. I have so much more I plan to do and God willing, it will get done.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing worth having comes easy. I am still kind of in the beginning stages of being an entrepreneur, so I’m still learning. I’m learning to deal with customers as well. I’m learning to have patience with them and with myself. I’m still perfecting my craft as well . Sometimes it’s frustrating, but you keep going !
Starting this business was one of my best and biggest accomplishments. I’ve endured a lot of things in my lifetime and at one point , I was stagnant and comfortable with being stagnant. I was in my head a lot and now I feel useful. Things are a lot better these days and I am grateful for the opportunity to better myself.

I am currently employed at Boston Scientific. I have been there almost three years. We provide cardiac monitors to doctor offices around the country . As far as Created by Ton, I specialize in all things custom. Business cards, logos, invitations, flyers, party favors. etc.
I absolutely love designing and learning new things to perfect my craft. I love the response and the constructive criticism from my customers. My business makes me feel so good. It is exciting. It’s something I have always loved. It’s like a paid hobby.
