Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Cullen.
Kevin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Janeice Weinand (CEO) and I both worked at a Houston-based consulting firm that had a good reputation, where I was a partner. We had a chance to work with some large firms and some very exciting engagements during the 11 years that we worked there together, and were able to develop some really great programs for our clients. At some point, it became clear that the firm we worked at did not share our values and we decided to go out on our own because we really stood for: honesty and integrity, authenticity and courage, service and reliability, providing value and exceeding expectations and standing of excellence in everything we do.
Leadera was founded on these values and they both represent who we are and are built into the practices throughout our firm. We are very proud of this and we try to practice and demonstrate this in everything we do. This produces an extraordinary relationship with our clients and we pride ourselves for having “clients for life.”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When we put our shingle out, we literally had no clients. So there was the nervousness of being at risk cause it was a bold move for us. Believing in ourselves and for the values that we stand for was a very empowering aspect of what got us through the first year and slowly but surely, we began to build our client base and get an opportunity to do some really great work with some really great companies. Being a small company, we can be picky about who we work with, so we do not work with companies that don’t have a commitment to operate at the highest levels. That’s where we can make the biggest difference, we are proud to say that our clients are of the highest order of integrity and ethics. And we love working with them!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Leadera – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We specialize in assisting our clients in producing a breakthrough performance. That can be in several areas such as productivity, quality, growth, and profitability. We are experts at “strategic implementation.” And we are known for our reliability in engaging employees in delivering extraordinary results throughout their organization. Part of this is providing a reliable “structure for fulfilment” and the other piece is developing the people in the organization through leadership development and execution.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We look forward to continuing to grow both in the Houston market and across North America. We anticipate the oil and gas business to make a positive turn next year, and we are also planning to facilitate what is known as “the big crew change” which means that leadership development will be a key need and component in the success of large industrial companies. We have a leadership development course called “Being a Leader and the Effective Exercise of Leadership” which is second to none. The people that participate say it is “life-altering” and it leaves them in a powerful place to step up and begin leading in a way that they never imagined.
