Today we’d like to introduce you to George Oginni.
Hi George, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story begins with God and his decision to work on me. I was born in Dallas, Texas but I lived in just about every major city surrounding Dallas–mainly Plano, Texas. My parents were never married so I grew up in separate homes between the two; if you know my parents and knew upbringing then you would fully understand who I am and my journey to get here. My mother, Bridgette, is full of life, she’s optimistic about the world and those in it, she’s genuine in every encounter and she truly desires to help others. My father, Rennie’s, main goal in life is to do God’s work and to thank God, he’s a man of discipline, hard work and business. He always tells me “there’s no room for a lazy person in this world” and “the sky is the beginning”. Both of my parents play a huge role in my life and my practice, which is why I have to acknowledge them.
In 2014, I experienced the highest and lowest part of my life; I was both, admitted to law school and failed out of law school in the same year. Today, I thank God for that transition in life, I was able to learn about myself, my purpose, and how to act with intention. In 2016 I went back to law school but this time I returned at the top of my class, editor-in-chief of the Thurgood Marshall Law Review, and stumbled into the field of personal injury. In law school, I dreamed of working at the number one “big law” firm, specifically Vinson Elkins but there was always a barrier. Even though I did not make it to “big law”, I found myself working for the most prestigious personal injury law firm, then for one of the top trial lawyers in the city, and then I worked for one of the best trial lawyers in the nation—all of this was obtained effortlessly, which I tribute to God’s plan.
Due to my intensive internships, I felt confident enough to branch out on my own with my law partner, John Leo. John worked criminal cases on the state and federal level while in law school. The goal since day one was to start our own law firm; the question was when. Thankfully John and I shared the same vision and we decided to take the leap and start Leo & Oginni Trial Lawyers—a personal injury law firm.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey hasn’t been hard, it just takes a certain level of commitment and dedication. My commitment and dedication stem from having genuine family and friends around me to guide me in the right direction. However, the bumpiest part of this journey has been the sacrifice. I’ve sacrificed my time, certain relationships, pleasures, and present-day satisfactions in order to accomplish my goals. It’s ironic that my biggest “struggle” is one of the main ingredients that I use to accomplish my goals.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
A person is successful when their entire family is flourishing. I believe that you’re truly successful when the loved ones around you aren’t struggling and they’re able to provide for themselves. Whether you created a way for them to provide for themselves or if you empowered them to do so.
