Rising Stars: Meet Gabriela Velasquez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Velasquez.

Hi Gabriela, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I had been working for Cole Veterinary Hospital for about 3 yrs as an administrative assistant, and while I enjoyed working there very much, arts have always been a part of me and what I love.

I started designing my very first pieces of jewelry as just a way of releasing stress.

With the need of sharing my creativity and love for arts and handmade creations. Since I was a young girl back in Venezuela, my love and curiosity for handame jewelry has been present. With the help of my boyfriend Juanjo, whom I met a little after plus the mix of his rich Mexican culture , Cacao Designs is born.

I made my first investment of jewelry findings around Christmas 2019 and since then I have not looked back.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
All the responsibilities that come with being a single mom of 3, working and having no family here, I felt I was loosing myself. Enjoying a hobby was difficult. And of course the investment of money and time needed to make it happen. It has not been easy, but totally worth it. I found myself very excited about what the next piece would look like.

And I felt like it was helping me release any stress or pressure, associated with my life routine.

It turned out it was like a therapy for me, touching the crystals and learning about each benefit that bring us energetically. I am the best example of how they can help us balance our energy and improve our lives. From being in a total chaos and anxiety, I feel completely at ease and enjoying every minute of it. Now I can say Cacao Designs is one of my dreams come true.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Cacao Designs is a brand of handmade jewelry and accessories made with love and good vibes. I use crystals and minerals that have been recharged under the sun and the moon. Cacao Designs is inspired by the aesthetics and beauty of our ancestors to create pieces that enhance our own style and help us balance our energy. Our style combines urban and modern designs. We use different jewelry techniques, such as macramé weaving, braided wire, among others. We use only quality, authentic materials to create a piece that will last a lifetime.
