Conversations with Frederick Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frederick Williams.

Hi Frederick, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hello! I started off working a lot of different auto industry shops from oil change places to tire shops to custom tire shops companies.

Coming up as a kid, I always had a passion for cars. Being around my grandfather, we went to a lot of race tracks. When I was younger, my grandfather had a lot of vehicles and friends of friends who had nice cars. I experience all this at a young age. From there, I always knew I was a car fanatic. I would watch videos on tv and practice it at home long hours of practicing In my garage I was a very good hands on type of guy. I would work on my vehicles a lot.

For long hours tell I got it right …I also knew it was my calling when friends would thank me for getting it done at the shop. For a long period of time, I would do a lot of custom work to my cars. My friends would tell me they wanted me to do the same custom work on their cars.

On free time, I took a vinyl wrap class and shadowed a Friend who was well experienced wrap artist. I was already well experienced with cars from my grandfather could break down many vehicles and rebuild them.

I would vinyl wrap vehicles on the side after I finished my shift at my regular job. I developed a good history with clients. I was customizing vehicles out of my garage apartment.

I got so overwhelmed with customers. I was getting a lot of attention on social media and word of mouth.

I ended up leaving the job I worked 7 years for and started my company full time by myself. I had other people wanting to learn from me to eventually work for me…..

This was the best decision of my life taking a leap of faith and now I have one of the biggest custom auto body shops in Houston, Texas…..

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Was not smooth. I did have a lot of struggles on certain tasks but I would reach out to different people in the auto industry, asking a lot of questions to better myself as a person and conduct a Business and the most professional way…..

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So basically, I would take factory base vehicles and customize everything on the car with custom parts and accessories…..

I also painted and vinyl wrap vehicles. I’m also into a lot of comic books and fashion clothing brands and big movies dealing with superheroes, clothes any theme that’s was popular I could do it. I also could draw good so I was very good at color sketches schemes and themes for different vehicles…

What I am known for is the clothing brand bape and ape. I would use the same print and apply it to different vehicles in vinyl wrap variety of different colors all throughout Houston……….and now I’m currently designing and selling the material to different shops and other states. What’ set me aside from others is being able to design my wraps from scratch without the full print already embedded inside the wrap. I also go above and beyond on my installs. My clients get more custom work added to their car than what they originally pay for So yes, they would get free work added. I took pride in every vehicle I did install on in I wanted all my work to get the most attention…… treated their vehicles like mine because I love every aspect of the designs I was doing on vehicles I would work on……

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice is in finding a mentor is to reach out to people more experienced than you and apply what you know with their technique and see how you can make it better in your own way to attract an audience who will tell a friend of a friend and watch how your business grow abundantly…..
