Today we’d like to introduce you to Wenny Blackman, she is share her story with us below:
Wenny Blackman previously owned Hair Spray Salon, 1996- 2008 Wen Chic Salon owner…2008-2019 She has been in the Aveda industry for 26 years, but now she is venturing out for new hair products like Della Ricca Premium Italian Hair Color and Kevin Murphy hair color and other product line. She is not just a hairdresser; her current mission is to give back to those who are in need, like the Cancer Awareness mission. Wenny has 26 years of experience in the beauty industry; she has multiple certifications in styling and cutting hair, and she also specializes in difficult to cut and/or color hair. She is also a make-up artist and displays her hair and make-up skills in many different locations, including Houston local shows and pageants and has even travelled to Jamaica for an international beauty.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have been in business for the past 26 years in the salon industry, never thought I will lose it all after one big storm hit Katy, “Harvey” is the most depressing thing I went through, from running three businesses at the same time and I can’t even keep food on the table for my family. As a hard-working mom and having that feeling makes me a regular in the ER. Due to the business struggling so badly, I have to force myself to file bankruptcy, after that COVID didn’t help at all. The past three years have been hard; I have to restart everything in my life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about WenNexy Beauty Consultant?
WenNexy is a brand I created after my business closed; I decided to reset myself to my private clients, due to COVID the salon industry have changed rapidly. Clients are looking for more private setting and one on one service. Being a beautician for the past 26 years and passionate to provide the ongoing service to my client. I offer all kinds of beauty service including hair design, hair color, hair extensions, and facials.
How do you think about happiness?
My happiness comes from my heart to my clients, when a client comes in my salon and they leave happy that is the most joyful moment in my life. I believe life is always full of surprise and challenge, as long as you keep your hopes up everything can be overcome!
