Today we’d like to introduce you to Wassim Daoud.
Hi Wassim, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Small steps lead to bigger steps. With patience and perseverance, the goal kept growing over time. In essence, it is a moving goal post. I started with gourmet cooking at home as a hobby and I kept on perfecting the meals I make. I started watching a lot of cooking competition shows and I was inspired by their creations and their quick on their feet thinking. I started following a lot of chefs and accounts that specialize in Michelin Star cooking and meals and I started to replicate their work. Over time, my passion grew for cooking and I started posting about it noticing that I have an eye for it in details. I not only started creating my own recipes but I also decided to teach people how to go about creating artistic meals … more about my process that I go about creating them. From there, I started Plated Art and the idea continued to get bigger and hence the creation of The Spise Group which will have more related businesses over time that about food and the culture of it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Challenges will be competing in already crowded Houston food scene. The Houston food scene is already outstanding in taste and variety… so competing with this will have to be tough. My business though is a niche where it is focused on how to make and present a meal in an artistic way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an engineering executive. I hold degrees in engineering and MBA. The Spise group is a passion of mine and a side business that I will grow over time and once it becomes ready to scale up to the next level, I will bring professionals to run it while I continue to be the owner. This is a very important business to me and I’m very passionate about it but my career is in engineering and corporate executives management.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I have the most amazing people in my life. They’re the backbone and my great support system. It consists of my family and close friends.
