Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyndi Williams.
Cyndi, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started in 1993 as a Travel Agent, at only 19 years old at the time, I was sent to Germany, Hawaii, and Orlando on familiarization trips, or as we call them in the industry “FAM” trips. Needless to say, I was officially infected with the travel bug and travel has been a passion of mine ever since then.
After mastering being an agent, I quickly moved into training and trained over 1,000 travel agents in my Career. I left travel briefly after 9/11 because the Travel Industry was in shambles during that time I worked as an HR Executive, and won two national awards for my work in the Organizational Development field. I opened my brick and mortar Travel Agency here in Katy in 2016, and business is booming. We recently accepted the 2017 Best Travel Agency Award from Living Magazine and a national award for the fastest growing new agency in our region.
Travel is such a beautiful way for all of us to connect with spirit, with our families, and to take time for ourselves. As more people travel the world becomes smaller, and the love becomes bigger. At Tripsy, it’s our mission to, in our small way, to help raise the vibration of the planet one beautiful journey at a time.
Tripsy is a fun and friendly agency; engaging regularly with our clients. We post live videos of our travels, on YouTube we are building a library of videos for our clients, we do educational trips, and we are fully trained and certified in all major destinations. We pride ourselves on customizing each family vacation as if we were planning it for our own families. We’ve successfully married the love and care of a traditional agency, but using the tools, resources, and advances available in today’s marketplace to deliver a truly special experience for our clients, that we affectionately call “Tipsters”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a pretty smooth road, any business has growing pains but ours have been related to our fast-paced growth and keeping up with the demand for our services. We’ve done a good job with our targeted marketing, and our referral rate is astronomical which tells me we are heading down the right path.
A vacation can be a 5K-10K or more investment, and one that families repeat annually so we take that very seriously and we consider our clients an extension of our family. Having a reliable, well-versed travel expert on your speed dial takes the stress, worry, and chaos out of travel planning. Our clients know they can trust us to help them avoid costly mistakes, and trust us with all the little details required to have a wonderful stress-free vacation.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tripsy Travel story. Tell us more about the business.
At Tripsy we specialize in leisure travel. We have specialists on staff for all different areas of the world. For example, if you are visiting Disney we have agents that have been 10+ times and know all the ins and outs. We also do educational trips several times a year to stay current on all the major destinations. Clients love that we are always current with the latest and greatest.
We are known for our fun and friendly approach to connecting with our clients. We have a following on Facebook and YouTube, where clients can watch our destination visits, get travel advice, and participate in promotions we offer.
What sets us apart is our expertise, our sincere passion for travel, and our innovative approach to connecting with our clients. We share our personal experiences via tips, pictures, videos, and our clients just love to see our passion for travel and they want to work with us because we are experts in our industry. When people are investing thousands of dollars on a vacation, they want to work with the best.
We also have a traditional Travel Agency for customers that like that, but we also do web conferencing or phone calls all based on our clients’ preferences. It is not uncommon for us to be booking a trip for a client while we are poolside in Hawaii, or relaxing at Disney, or on a beach somewhere. Our clients love that we are engaged in a travel lifestyle, and that’s why they call us when they are ready to start planning their next adventure.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
As the CEO and Owner, people have always called me “lucky” but what people don’t realize is that luck really has nothing to do with success; but the mindset has EVERYTHING to do with success. I have owned three extremely successful businesses, all profitable. I have always believed that I am capable of manifesting anything I want, and I was always willing to do the hard work to back that up.
I actually stopped working in my extremely profitable business (and eventually sold it) before my travel business was profitable. People called me crazy they said I was nuts to walk away from a 6-figure salary to do something that they didn’t consider a sure bet. That’s the kind of thinking that holds so many people back, I wasn’t afraid to give everything up because I already knew I was capable of recreating anything I wanted to do; this time around I was even more confident because Travel is my passion so I knew I’d make it a wild success. Everyone is capable of making their own luck, and listening to that inner voice is everything in terms of expansion and abundance in your life’s work.
