Exploring Life & Business with Yasmina Ibrahim of Ace of Sweets

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yasmina Ibrahim.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Baking cookies was always a hobby of mine, but I would have never dreamed of making it into an actual business. The whole idea sort of happened overnight after a long deep conversation with my husband about the future and where we wanted to be career-wise and what would make us happy. The short answer for me was baking. It brings me joy to make people happy and cookies are a surefire way of doing that. Although Ace of Sweets has only recently begun I wanted to do something that came naturally to me and thankfully everything sort of fell into place when we made the decision to start this venture. It was an opportunity to share my passion with everyone and I’m truly blessed for the chance.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To struggle is an understatement; starting anything from the ground up comes with its challenges. The whole process has been an educational journey. The cookies came naturally to me but the business aspect of it was a bit out of my comfort zone. The most difficult part was creating a brand and making permanent decisions that could not be changed in the future. Thankfully those early decisions set us up for smoother sailing. I wore many different hats throughout the process which definitely taught me a lot and my understanding and appreciation for many things. As exhausting as these past few months have been, they have been equally as gratifying.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a small business that specializes in gourmet cookies that give you a nostalgic taste of home. What sets us apart is our unique flavors and the quality of the ingredients that we use. Our cookies remain soft and gooey even days after, not that they ever last that long. We bake our cookies fresh and hot out of the oven for our customers. My main goal is to guarantee satisfaction with every bite. The brand is both sleek, unique, and honest we want to be the ACE of sweets. My favorite thing about getting feedback is that everyone has a different favorite. My goal from the beginning was that the assortment of cookies we offer assures that everyone will find their favorite flavor.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Whenever you get into any industry there will always be someone with more experience, better insight, or even different perspectives. Pride should never stand in the way when asking for advice and there is no such thing as a bad question. As for networking, competition does not have to be malicious, finding others within the same industry can be educational and even fun so don’t shy away from competition

I wanted to give a special shout-out to my husband.  I literally owe everything to him, he’s been so supportive of me throughout this whole process. He’s just been so motivating, loving and he’s always helping me take care of things so that I’m not so overwhelmed.  He’s been so supportive of me throughout this whole process.
