Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Jones.
Alexa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I always had a love for photography, I was always taking pictures at the family functions and was also on the yearbook staff in high school. When I graduated I found a love for western photography and began to dabble in Intimate Portraiture also known as Boudoir. I spent three years of my life with a man who made me hide my body, didn’t support my passion and was just overall very toxic. Once I decided to leave that relationship it was like my creativity and business blossomed. I found that what I was truly special at and good at was showing women their bodies from a completely different view than they have ever seen themselves before. I decided that Boudoir, specifically Luxury Boudoir would be what I specialized in.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been smooth sailing. I have had my struggles, I have been looked down on as someone who shoots “porn” or “only-fans material” not that there is anything wrong with those things but that is not what Boudoir is. Overcoming those comments is something that I have had to figure out how to do.
Another major obstacle I have had to work on is breaking through into that ‘Luxury’ world. It’s hard to be a Luxury Boudoir Photographer and charge boutique pricing and continue to work, when a lot of your clientele tells you you’re “too expensive” or “I would never pay that”. I remind myself everyday to stick to my pricing, my work, and why I do what I do because I am worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Simply Seductive Photography?
Simply Seductive Photography started off as an intimate portraiture company but there wasn’t anything special about it. I was shooting out of AIRBNB’s and basically winging it. Simply Seductive wasn’t what I knew it could be; it wasn’t reaching its full potential.
I began branding myself as a Luxury Boudoir brand. I now use AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL studios, hair and makeup is included, I am building my client closet slowly but surely and I also use an all-female luxury printing company based out of Canada for all of my albums and prints.
Something that makes Simply Seductive Photography so special is that I offer in-house, interest free payment plans up to 12 months. You pay your session fee (and part of your package price) prior to the session date, so you have less stress the day of your shoot.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Covid-19 has taught me to cherish what we have just a little bit more, and to take every experience God throws my way.
