Conversations with Parker Gregory

Today we’d like to introduce you to Parker Gregory.

Hi Parker, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Everything in fitness journey started with sports and modeling. From being an athlete my entire childhood through high school then into the world of modeling being in shape was a big part of my job. I trained with multiple trainers in New York City for different disciplines to gain knowledge with real experience to understand the ‘how and why.’ Between studying and reading and learning first hand, it was when I met, my now long time close friend, Francisco Liuzzi of Innervation Fitness that I leaned what being a personal trainer really meant along with more knowledge than I realized one could know. I started off with Francisco as my coach and mentor. I worked under Francisco and then with Innervation Fitness for a year. This is where I started.

Two things stayed a constant in life as well as continually grew inside of me; the love of fitness for the health aspect and the challenge of becoming better, stronger, and completing fitness/health goals. The second one is my love of helping people. Giving to people. I love, deeply, being a part of an individual’s life and helping achieve their goal, whether it is purely for health, purely fitness related, or maybe it’s both. I have had many clients start off with the goal of , “ I just want to get a little stronger, lose some weight, and just become healthier.” Then watching them slowly change into the person, “ ok, I want more! I want to run a 5k.” “ I want to deadlift my body weight.” “I want to complete a triathlon.” It’s amazing to see how health and fitness change people. It’s rewarding to be a part of their life to help as a guide to getting them there no matter which road they choose. I love seeing the health and fitness bug take over. These people become more positive. More willing to try new things. They no longer fear that they cannot achieve something. This is why I love coaching athletes and training clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No road is smooth. You only build a vehicle that drives the road well.

Making mistakes for programming.

Making mistakes in presentation.

Making mistakes through communication.

All these costing me clients and athletes.

All of these reasons are scenarios that are valuable to the craft. You want to recognize these mistakes and learn from them to better yourself and for your current clients and future clients.

I’m still learning today. This business is always evolving. There are certain aspects that will forever be standard, but you have know them and continuously learn what’s new.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve been a male model for nearly 20years. I lived in Los Angles, then New York City. I have traveled around the world, shot with amazingly talented photographers and models, amazing crews, some unbelievably good hair and makeup artist. I’ve been on set during cruel weather shooting clothing that was not built for said weather. But in the end, life could have been worse.

I tackle general fitness. Most people want to feel better, look better, and live better. I stick to the method of strength and life and live it as long as possible as strong as possible, with a smile.

I also coach endurance. I love triathlons, so of course, I love coaching people for a triathlon, running events, and cycling events.

I did some bike racing back when I lived in New York. I was a coach for the, then, NY Velocity men’s Cat 5 team. My job was to build their fitness, strength, and bike handling drills through team rides. I was then an assistant coach to a women’s Cat 3 team, Stan’s Notubes.

I have continued in my coaching for those who love endurance, because I Love It and no the reward and accomplishment you feel after a race.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I truly want you to succeed. I remind my clients that I work for them. I want my clients to reach out to me. I want them to know and practice that open communication with me. I want to if they are having an emotional week. It is up to them if they want to disclose why, but at least share that you emotionally compromised and that is why you had an off week. It’s life. It happens. I’m here to help. Not pass judgment for being human. Yes, I will hold you accountable and hopefully teach you how to hold yourself accountable. I’m here to help!
