Meet Joshua Crawford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Crawford.

Joshua, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Josh Crawford is an American drummer and content creator best known for his energetic reactions to drum performances on YouTube. The channel also features lessons and performances by Josh and has enjoyed over 24 million views to date.

Fun Fact: Josh is AN IDENTICAL TRIPLET! On June 12th, 1990, He entered this world with two roommates: my brothers Justin and Jason Crawford. Yes, he’s the oldest of a set of triplets and amazingly, they’re all musicians! His interest in music began differently than you may have expected. Joshua originally had an intense desire to play the guitar and his younger brother Justin, played the drums.

They all started as church musicians and still play in church ’til this day, his younger brother Justin on drums and Jason on keys. Even though He wanted to play the guitar They didn’t have one yet so Joshua sat in as a back up drummer scared to death hoping that his brother Justin would never get tired, or just let me play the slow songs. However, his fear and hesitation to playing drums changed as soon as He joined his high school jazz band. Not to mention according to Joshua his brother Justin stopped progressing as a drummer and had now moved on to play guitar which now serves as his main instrument.

His brothers, best friend Alex Rassberry, and Joshua started a jazz band called 3+1, get it? They were now gigging all throughout our local city Newark NJ and his love for drumming was morphing into a love for different kinds of drummers. While they were out trying to make a name for themselves, Joshua would meet different talents and just seeing what other drummers were capable of.

That’s when He started my YouTube channel. Joshua started doing reactions featuring different drummers. On June 10, 2020, I built my channel up to around 76,000 subscribers and it was on that day my channel got hacked two weeks after that with the help of YouTube I was able to recover my channel and the very next week I went viral which helped me reach over 100,000 subscribers I also landed an endorsement deal with Paiste Cymbals, Also I became partners with the biggest drum Channel on YouTube and it is pretty much the staple of the Drum community called Drumeo! (Over 2 million subscribers)

And In October 2021 I started a TikTok and as of today, I have over 100,000 followers and over five viral videos all over 3 million views with Tiktok! Can’t wait to see what the future holds!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the most biggest challenges I came across was getting my YouTube channel hacked in June of 2020 A hacker emailed me pretending to be A company that wanted to work with me with some sponsorship videos to promote their software for a video game they sent me the file and I was automatically logged out of my YouTube channel when I tried to logged back in I got a notification saying that my password has been changed one hour ago after that all of my videos (over 500) Were deleted! Except one video of theirs where they were live streaming and stealing people’s Bank accounts! I made a quick post on my Instagram and story and the entire community came together to get YouTube‘s attention to address the situation two weeks later I was able to get in touch with YouTube and they are hacking specialists and we were able to get my channel back and my videos two weeks later I went viral on YouTube and reached my milestone of 100,000 subscribers!!!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a drummer and content creator best known for my energetic reactions to drum performances on YouTube. I love to add drums to songs you wouldn’t expect drums to be on my most popular content is me adding drums to popular songs from hit shows cartoons, sitcoms, and even movies! I truly believe the way I bring drums to this type of entertainment is what sets me apart from others.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice for those starting off is to number one be consistent but more importantly, when you run into the haters keep in mind that that is an indication that you’re doing something right! There’s a very powerful acronym for the word haters which is (Having Anger Towards Everyone Reaching Success!) use hate comments as notifications to your content meaning every time I receive a hay comment on any of my videos it’s because it went viral so I always know that when I get hate something with my content just went very successful! And last but not least do it because you love to do it and let God lead you!
