Today we’d like to introduce you to The Just Acting Up Show.
We’re so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well, it all started at a film meetup group mixer at the West End Bar. Chris and Mike, long time friends who were interested in the film industry and at the mixer they met James who is a local actor/scriptwriter. After the mixer, they remained in contact with each other and about 1 1/2 years passed. Chris then mentioned to both Mike and James about starting a podcast. There is so much talent in Houston, we wanted to create a platform that highlighted actors, directors, writers, comedians etc. Houston has a big tv/film industry that is underserved and we wanted to showcase the melting pot of talent that wouldn’t normally get the recognition or exposure that it deserves.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We wouldn’t say that it has been a struggle but more so a process. With various backgrounds coming together, with James, the most seasoned actor amongst us, Chris with his media background in radio, Mike an awesome talented actor emerging on the scene making a splash. For us, it has been a smoother road because we work in unison and our chemistry is just there.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are known for our podcast. Our show is not like your regular podcast format. With the radio background Chris has, he wanted to approach the show like a radio show. So when you watch the show it’s a full show with several different segments and not just one Topic. yes, the core of our show is based in the tv/film industry and highlighting that industry but we also talk sports, current events, music, mental health and more.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
We are all also writers and content creators as well as we have several scripts that we individually and collectively are working on and hopefully the world would get to see them someday.
