Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Avakumiants.
Regina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story as an artist started as long as I can consciously remember myself. I start attending art school at a very early age. As a child, I always had a vivid imagination and sensitivity to the world around me so it was reflecting and building all new world inside of me ready to be formed, explored and released later in life in art.
Since my early 20’s, I already knew that I will be taking my place in the industry as a tattoo artist but it took me a good decade to sort things out to finally do what I love every day.
Many processes taking their part in building my art style since then. Threw all the happiness and hardship of experience called life, my art was always there for me to get back to myself, reflect and heal.
Of course, it took many sacrifices, disappointments, everyday achievements, a ton of self discipline, compassion, hours and hours of work to develop my skill, confidence in my vision and manifestation of my goal.
But there is nothing better than self-made.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When you walk the path you were created for, nothing really ever stops or redirects you, but make you learn and inspire to keep on going until you – yourself become one with it.
This is the moment of embodiment. After that, there is nothing but purity of expression.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Since 2016 iv been based in Houston, TX working as an independent artist, art instructor, tattoo master and entrepreneur.
Last year I finally manifested a very long coming goal and opened my very own first Tattoo and Art Studio “Sacred Needles”. Currently offering mentorship to emerging tattoo artists, art therapy and workshops.
In my studio space, you can see my work process on series of paintings honoring divine goddess in women threw their path in society, nature, spirituality, cycle of life and death and the universe itself.
“Sacred Needles” is a safe place to dive deep into creative process and healing through the ancient art of tattooing while offering a comfortable experience to relax and enjoy the process.
Share my vision with the world and help others to tune into their inner world of imagination, creativity and freedom to heal and express themselves is my purpose in this life as an artist and simply a woman.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Love the process, Be compassionate and forgiving, Be honest and ethical, there is no one but you to do the work.
Stand up after every hit. Take time to heal. Sacrifice. Believe your vision and archive beyond any limits.
But most important – not to be afraid to explore the unknown. That is exactly the route to take, no detours.
