Hi Brandy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I started doing comedy at 19 after a bad breakup and I had quit my job at a family dollar I had dropped out of college I was chasing a $7.85 dollar an hour check with my last $20 I went to Timmy Chan brought a wing dinner put some gas in my car brought some e&j went to Walmart and brought the gospel comedy all-stars DVD after that it was on I started out in the church I was not good at all but I kept going I was two years in before I ever received any money my first getting paid I got $25 and that was a highlight in my life from there I’ve performed at the improv countless times been on 4 tours did a movie “Trouble in the Jones Family” performed in over 30 states just blessed.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Hell no!!!! Bad promoters, fake managers, bad business, dishonest people. In comedy, you have to have tough skin people will smile in your face and talk about you as soon as you walk away. Keep your composure and know what you’re here for!!! The people
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Special Education teacher and I care about my babies!!!! Being a teacher and a comic goes hand in hand so I work out my jokes on my kids I have so they laugh it’s a delay but I get the laugh lol but being a teacher and a comic has definitely taught me patience
