Daily Inspiration: Meet Anniete Omoragbon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anniete Omoragbon.

Hi Anniete, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am Anniete, a twenty-two-year-old hairstylist from Nigeria. Doing hair has always been a hobby for me, I started braiding at a very young age. I used to practice on myself and dolls until I became comfortable with doing other people’s hair. I went to an all-girls boarding school and I would often help my peers do their hair. This is where I found people to practice on; I was known for being able to grip really short hair. After high school, I moved to the United States and I decided to work on my craft and learn new techniques. I watched so many YouTube videos and practiced more and my work improved gracefully. I didn’t take doing hair seriously until a year ago when I quit my part-time job to focus on just braiding and school, and it’s been good so far, I’m grateful.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been an easy journey, I struggled with balancing my part-time job, school and braiding hair on the side. It became too stressful for me, I had to quit my job and focus on braiding and school. It took so much commitment and hard work, but I’m so grateful for where I am today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
