Today we’d like to introduce you to YaoYao Sun and Judy Liu.
Hi YaoYao and Judy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Judy and I have always dreamed about doing something together as business partners. Back in 2011, we had all these crazy ideas, like wedding gown business, baby clothes business or even a language school, but none of these business ideas were solid enough for us to actually start. The dream of starting a business together remained in our heart, while we started our lives in different countries. Judy moved to Taiwan, and I stayed in Houston. Judy started her 1st business in Taiwan in 2016, a skincare brand, Juvaly.
Judy and I remained close over these years. She often shared her vision about how women become mothers and grow all different and stronger capability and perspectives, and how these qualities make impacts on her skincare business. She once again mentioned the possibility to own a business together in the US.
In 2019, a great opportunity showed itself. Sesanood appeared! Sesanood came from a reputative manufacturer in Taiwan, specializing in all sesame products for more than 39 years. Sesanood was looking for its opportunity of growth in the US market. Judy called me and said ‘OMG, you have to try these noodle. LIFE-CHANING-SESAME NOODLE.’ and I tried. Yes, this ’Sesanood’ is definitely something, something we haven’t seen and tasted in the US, something that is going to shine in the market.
Along the line, Judy also shared a very special customized baby accessories manufacturer to me, and we both agree this is going to be loved by parents and babies in US.
So, Judy and I met up in Taiwan and, for the 1st time, seriously talk about a business together. She wants to include Sesanood, Juvaly and Chuffy to the map of our co-established company SpringGoods LLC.
This is our story that sprouted 10 years ago. We are so glad that although we did not start the business right away back then, but we never give up the thought! We are also amazed by how much we’ve grown over these years and transformed us from two young ladies who don’t have much ideas about their future to mothers of two, who run international business, with the mission that introducing top-notch brands to the US market from all over the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the initial struggles was prior to this business venture, I was a stay at home mom for over nine years so I felt “rusty” to enter back into the business world, not to mentioned Covid-19 has made huge and negative impacts in pretty much all business from 2020 to 2021.
The food industry is also new to both Judy and I so we had much to learn. We’ve been fortunate as in our relatively short history, we have managed to sell out of products several times as the initial demand has been very high. We always believe struggles and obstacles are just a faster way to learn. So, we are not going to complain that we learned a lot from the past two years.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
SpringGoods imports only high-quality products to the US. SesaNood is one of the brands! We definitely invested most of our time & resource in Sesanood now since it’s full of potential, and will be adored by every member in every family. Sesanood is special because it’s;
⁃ vegan
⁃ Plant based
⁃ 15g plant based protein
⁃ Sun dried noodles
⁃ No msg
⁃ No preservatives
⁃ 5 mins to cook
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
We will say our HUSBANDS and KIDS deserve credits along the way, supporting us not only being moms & wives, but so much more.
We also feel like everyone we encountered on the path, every procurement manager, every customer who gave feedback deserved some credits for teaching us so much.
