Meet Aprill Renee of Media Production

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aprill Renee.

Hi Aprill, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
You know as I get older, I understand how my story isn’t unique, different or at all interesting. There was a time when I glorified my rebellious childhood and boosted my accomplishments as though they were extraordinary. I am very grateful, and only at the end of my life can I truly determine how I got “here”; because I am still reaching for “here”…and my “here” constantly evolves. Where I am today, is steadily moving towards who I used to be mixed with who I am choosing to be. Bold, vivid, rebellious, and creatively challenging myself to go exactly where I want to go. Lol if that makes sense.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has Definitely not been a smooth road…but I like climbing mountains so it’s always a bit rocky. Smooth is boring. sometimes. Lol. Not but seriously a smooth road is nice, smooth and predictable. I am a fan of some predictable outcomes but I am enjoying the scenery of the journey which is my life. Struggling is a harsh word. I believe the struggle can sharpen you or destroy you. It’s meant to test you and make you better…if you allow it. It can be discouraging but I am learning myself that it just means find a different way to make it happen. Look back on past wins, mistakes, etc. and continue to learn from everything around you/me The oddest people often give the best advice,

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for my personality…that could just be my opinion taken from how people respond to me. I am a visual artist and my medium is film, photography and most recently I am into 360 VR media. The thing that makes me most proud of myself is I know what I want and I am able to learn, and apply information. Not as fast as I would like but I see myself not stuck in the same mental patterns and structure. I am proud that I can continue to shape who I want to be as I need.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Houston is a City that is filled with much creative life. Houston sets trends, period! The city can be either your best friend or it can be the biggest enemy. In my opinion the city has so much potential to be the best and is the best in many creative industries, and in some industries it dominates! What I don’t love about Houston…the never ending freeway constructions.
