Exploring Life & Business with Deidra Ewing of Ewing Living

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deidra Ewing. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Deidra Ewing grew up in a non conventional environment and fought her way to her own level of success. She is a God-fearing native Houstonian, wife, mother of two, leader in juvenile justice, Realtor, team lead for the largest black owned brokerage in Texas, Legacy Homes & Properties, a two time Published Amazon Best-Selling Author, small business coach, and Podcaster. She believes that self discipline, inspiring others, growth, healing, and execution are the keys to success and she aspires to help others reach their highest level of success.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles continues to be getting out of my own way. I believe that there is gap in between what women and our roles used to look like compared to what women and our roles look like today. I find myself struggling in between staying home and cooking dinner to avoid mom guilt and going out to pursue my passions. Because my goal is to leave generational wealth and for my kids to believe that they can become whoever they want to be, I choose to live a life that shows them that you can be multi-dimensional and that the sky really is the limit.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Ewing Living was the first business that my husband and I birthed together. I was doing really well in direct sales for a health and wellness company and for years, he’d tell me “you’d do great in real estate”. At the time, he was an architect, I was a full time entrepreneur, I’d just had my daughter, and I wasn’t open to taking on anything new. His vision was for him to draw the homes and for me to sell them because I’m good in sales. That vision was always in the back of my mind but I just wasn’t ready when he’d mention it. Then life happened. My direct sales business started to decline, I decided to go back to work, but I went to get my real estate license before going back to work full time. I promised myself that I wouldn’t jump back into full time entrepreneurship until I was absolutely certain that I’d never have to go back to being employed. Fast forward to today, four years later, I’m so thankful that he planted that seed and that I thought more than “what if” about real estate and actually acted on it.

Today Ewing Living has serviced over 100 families and businesses. We specialize in residential and commercial design, residential and commercial real estate, and we also support a team of new agents within our brokerage, Legacy Homes and Properties. Ewing Living can literally help anyone from start to finish whether you want to buy or sell a home, design a custom home or business, become a realtor and dominate the market, balance work like and business….we’re a one stop shop and I know that sets us apart from most people in any industry. Brand wise, I’m most proud of somehow successfully juggling a full time daytime career, a full time evening career in real estate, being full time mom, wife, author and podcaster without completely losing my mind. People always ask me how I’m able to do it all and I’m transparent with them. This life feels like spinning multiple plates at one time and doing your best to not drop a plate. It’s overwhelming and stressful at times but knowing that we have multiple options creates a level of freedom that’s indescribable.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I think happiness comes and goes and is constantly changing and evolving but I do know what brings me peace. Waking up, smashing goals, taking care of myself and my family, random date nights, laughing with my girls, traveling the world, getting lost in a book, Tiff’s Treats on a Tuesday or finding that bag of pistachios that I forgot was in the bottom of my purse when I’m hungry….those things bring me peace and they show up as happiness.
