Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristiana Karnopp. Them and their team share their story with us below:
For a good majority of her life, Tiana always preferred to heal herself through natural means first before going to the doctor, that’s when she really dove into the wonderful world of herbalism. In 2017 while in her first college apartment, Tiana started brewing her own herbal tea blends because she was trying to find a natural remedy to help her relax after a long day of class. Tiana’s main goal in life is to help heal people naturally through holistic methods, and to impact other peoples’ lives in a positive way. Crafting holistic, healing, herbal teas is the best way she knows how to help heal herself and others. During her first month of employment at a local CBD Coffee shop in San Marcos, Texas, Tiana found a way to share her passion for making tea for others by serving her own recipes and infusing it with CBD. Thus combining the two elements that fill her life with purpose- healing and herbs. This was where she earned her the name: Tiana the Tea Wiz. From there, her recipes improve & grow, and her knowledge of herbs continues to expand. In June 2019, she finally created her own CBD tea business. And so Fortune Tealer was born.
Currently, Tiana sells her products online at www.fortunetealer.com, and in select stores in San Marcos, Texas. She offers ‘customized-for-you’ herbal tea blend options, various teaware accessories to add a little magic to your cup, and an assortment of premade blends ready to be packed with love and sent to a new home. She is also working on offering her teas as a service for events.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it has been smooth sailing. I only work on my business when I feel inspired because I have a day job that takes up most of my time now, but I’ll work on Fortune Tealer in my free time. I deal with burnout easily, so having a creative outlet like my own business really helps keep me busy, but also reminds me that it’s not always about making money, but it’s about doing what you love. Some days I want to give up, but then I remember I have a real passion for making tea and being creative with the process.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When it comes to talking about my work experience, I would consider myself a Jill of most trades because I enjoy learning new things, but end up wanting to try something new if things get too stagnant, which is a good and bad thing.
In 2019, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Texas State University in 3.5 years, and I know how to: build and design websites (I did my own), create logos, find and listen to consumer needs, market to target audiences, streamline processes, and manage business finances.
I have experience in many different industries because I wanted to know what each is like in order to determine where I want to end up. During this pandemic, for example, I tried my hand at: retail, non profit organizations, new home sales, personal training, fitness sales, social media management, and now I work in escrow and title work. I think what sets me apart from others is that I am not afraid to try and fail – and I have, a lot, and truthfully, I think that’s something I’m most proud of. There’s this saying that stuck with me that I heard as a kid growing up, it went like “you fall down 7 times, and you stand up 8,” this taught me to not be afraid of giving up, as it is a part of life- and in my humble opinion, the true test of life is to make mistakes but to keep going.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I started my business because I was encouraged by some colleagues of mine, named Justin, Mark, and Wayman, without them, I probably would’ve never thought having my own business could be possible. Most importantly, I owe a lot of my drive and passion for success and healing to my family- my sister Skyler was the original tea girl of the family, I learned from her, and she’s way younger than me!! My mom was and is still a huge supporter that inspired me to learn how to heal through herbalism. My dad is the finance guy that always helped me mitigate financial risks and reminded me to not spend more than what I made. And my brother always supports and encourages me to do more with my business.
