Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantell Washington.
Shantell, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always had a love for children. I realized that there was a need for after-school programs in the inner city areas. I started with one program and thru hard work and being dedicated to the children we have over 20 locations.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road was not always smooth. God has always blessed and made things possible. Where Steps To Excellence can provide for the children.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Steps To Excellence – what should we know?
We provide after-school enrichment programs to elementary thru high school students. We assist the kids with homework help, computer classes, arts & crafts, anti-bullying tactics and a nutritional meal. We are here to provide support to the families within the community. I am most proud of the kids’ success. When they come in very excited with their progress reports and report cards. Steps to Excellence is truly dedicated to the kids we serve.
