Vanessa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born in New York and raised in Texas I always had an entrepreneurial spirit for as long as I can remember.
I always loved helping people and the opportunity for real estate development and serving first time homebuyers was born.
Professional Career:
Vanessa Cole is co-founder of Cole Klein Builder, a residential new construction company that specializes in market rate and affordable housing new construction.
Prior to Cole Klein Builders, Cole was an office manager for Winhill Advisors where she led a team of forty agents as well as represented small investors, builders, private equity funds, Real Estate Investment Trusts, and City organizations in their land and property acquisitions. In 2014 Cole had the opportunity to partner in the acquisition of 580 homes over a period of 10 months strengthening her skills in negotiations, systems and procedures, market analysis, investment analysis, software solutions and field management. In 2015 Cole recognized and personally invested in an opportunity to build affordable housing in the greater third ward community and has been actively pursuing this opportunity ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A smooth road does not exist and if it is a smooth road you are most likely not challenging yourself enough.
The beginning challenges I encountered were getting lots released from the city organizations we were working with a timely and scalable manner. We were approved as a builder, however, the lot releases would take a very long time and in business it is very important to keep the inventory moving.
The current challenges have been the supply chain issues with our building materials and inflation due to the pandemic and current economic conditions.
We are always staying solution oriented and a lot of times I look at challenges as a new puzzle to solve so I am not stressing over everyday tasks that simply need solutions.
