Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Avila.
Hi Noah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got Into photography when I was 14 (taking pictures of anything). When I was 17 I ended up getting a mustang and started taking photos of cars, by the time I was 21 my friend Stephanie said if I taught her how to do automotive photography she would teach me how to do portraits with neon lights. She was amazed by how good I was for barely doing my first portrait shoot. I ended up getting into portraits and my work started to grow. I’ve been doing portrait photography for a year and a half now and I’ve never been more happy with it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It honestly hasn’t been easy getting started. Before I moved to Houston nobody would really book me. I ended up wanting to quit, but an old friend of mine said if I would be down to move to Houston for work, and I started to put my work even more out there since Houston is such a big city and I ended having people who loved my work, Of course, I had to collaborate for a while until my name was fully out there. I tried my best to shoot with people who had a big following, so more people could see me work. Before I lived in Houston my following was 1,000 and now it is at 3,.219. I was always being booked at least 2-4 times a week.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I mainly specialize in automotive photography. I’m known for my rollers and for my portraits I’m known for my blues. It amazed me because the people I looked up to actually looked up to me for my work. I’m proud of being able to work with expensive vehicles and people trusting me and choosing me to do work for them.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Always be humble in your work and know your worth in photography. People will always try and bring you down by saying they can find someone better or cheaper than you or they’ll try and underpay you for your work.
