Today we’d like to introduce you to Daryl Jones.
Hi Daryl, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in a single parent household raised by my mother. Aggression, anger, competitiveness, need for approval as a child became a common theme for me as an effect of a fatherless home. But the that loss in my personal life became a huge catalyst for my athletic career.
-Acquired 31 D1 Football Scholarships but turned them due to being drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2005 MLB Baseball Player Draft.
– Selected to the STL Cardinals MLB roster in 2009
– Battled Addiction and depression as a professional athlete.
– Retired from baseball in 2013 and Became a published author in 2016 when I wrote “God Cares About Sports”
I started DJ2 Enterprises which is an Entertainment Company who’s mission is to Inspire, Equip, and Empower others to discover their untapped potential that produces a life of purpose and power. Through the use of live interaction and engagements, online classes and courses, this company seeks to maximize individual performance by transforming hidden potential into public power.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I don’t know and the road to success and purpose that doesn’t involve obstacles or adversity. Some of the toughest obstacles I’ve faced in life have come in the the form of an internal battle within myself such as fear of rejection, people pleasing, depression, and addiction to pornography and drugs. All stemming from a lack of self-worth and value. Which is what made sports my sanctuary because I could easily tuck all of it away and distract myself temporarily.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
DJ2 Enterprises missions is: To Inspire, Educate, and Equip others to discover their untapped potential that produces a life of purpose and power. I specialize in being able to help people maximize productivity in the middle of complex problems. My experiences as a professional athletes have equipped me in the areas of leadership, communication, and organizational growth. Also possess the ability to integrate sports experiences to help people relate and solve everyday life problems. I am most proud of my ability to not give up on myself but rather use my past experiences in a way that can leave a lasting legacy for the next generation. We offer one on one and group coaching, books, speaking events, online videos etc.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality I feel is most important to my success is “Discipline.” Without discipline, there is no consistency, and without consistency, there is no real success.
