Today we’d like to introduce you to William Burton.
Hi William, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My brand started from feeling like black and brown people didn’t have a voice so one thing I knew that stood out no matter what was art. When you put clothing that you need everyday and art that speaks volumes together you have a force to be reckoned with. But as time went on I saw that I needed to start showing the love that we have for each other and putting that out here as well. So something’s will stand out and have you like “oh wow that’s very bold” and others you’re gonna say “I love it “ so going on from here on it’s all about the love and respect for me and my people even if I don’t know you as long as you want to build a beautiful family and the ones around you that’s coal unity.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. I have had times where I had to overcome being a new business owner before a pandemic hit and learning how to be a better businessman. I have had to learn how to take different steps and make sure to never try and follow what someone else is doing be authentic and original that’s the easiest thing to get done. But from here on I pave my own road so I decided what will be a problem and what will not
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love to create things that are easy to the mindset but something that is well thought out I don’t want to be the same thing someone could think of while doing nothing you have to let these things fall in place never force my hand when trying to create something if it feels right then it’s the right move.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Yes, I took a very big Chance and risk last year for my first pop up shop that was held in the city. It was Ebony Fit Weekend I saw about the event online and knew it was being promoted by a reliable source but when I was told the vendor fee I was like oh my goodness I got a batch of new hats for sale and this could be my first time getting out there and for the best of everything I was able to be blessed in such a major way that I made new associates and business people and actually almost sold out of my product that I had at the time. A very big risk that very much paid off
Pricing:
- Bucket hats – $45
- Dad hats – $35
- Beanies – $25
