Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Mitchell.
Hi Jasmine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The creators combined their ideas of a restaurant and lounge and came up with the concept of Taste of Cleveland in 2019. Fun fact, we met in 2008, but what is most unique is that we both had very similar restaurant ideas without ever having discussed them! They say great minds think alike! Our concept consists of unique visual aesthetics and mouth watering small bites that include cuisine from Northeast, Ohio. We relocated from Cleveland, Ohio to Houston in June 2019 and officially opened for business in August 2020.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
They say anything that comes easy is not worth having! So to answer that question, no! Shortly after we were open for business the pandemic began. I’m sure we all know the challenges businesses faced during that time, especially small businesses.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently, we provide catering services in the Houston area. We are known for our scratch kitchen Cleveland, Ohio cuisine. Each event is given a special touch catered towards the event, such as the concept and decor. Our goal is to open a brick and mortar restaurant and bar and eventually a food truck. Guests will be able to enjoy our food and environment that gives a hometown feel. We are most proud of our follow through with this business and watching it grow, even being given the chance to share our story in Voyage magazine. What makes us different from others is the intimacy, we are small, but we take our time to provide quality service and make every event special.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Some may call it luck, some may call it destiny. Whatever you call it, that is what brought us together to combine our vision and set the stage for all that is to come!
