Hi Emma, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started creating fashion content on Instagram and TikTok in mid 2021, right after I graduated from Rice University. I have always loved fashion and putting together outfits, and I saw it as both a creative outlet and an opportunity to be connected with fellow fashion lovers.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Getting started in this industry was challenging, but I am very grateful to now be doing this as a full time job. Before this, I was actually a concert violinist. I had graduated from Juilliard, and then moved to Houston to do my Master’s degree at Rice where I also played with the symphony- but when I graduated I knew it wasn’t the industry I wanted to be in. I had always been most passionate about fashion/beauty, and I remember being in high school and watching YouTubers and wanting to create content like them. Ultimately, my own doubts and insecurities, as well as pressure from my family stopped me from pursuing it, but I think I can now say that I’m finally doing the job I dreamed of, and creating a platform that is able to inspire others.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am active on a number of platforms (mainly TikTok, Instagram and YouTube) where I share my personal style, latest purchases and styling tips. I work with fashion and beauty brands, and I would describe my style as chic streetwear, where I feature feminine silhouettes along with some high-end accessories. As a petite girl, I also provide style tips and outfit ideas for fellow petite women, and ultimately my goal is to inspire women so that they are able to express themselves through fashion and wear what their heart desires.
