Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Massinburg.
Hi Kristen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I got here today by leaning on God and trusting in him. In 2019 I left Louisiana and moved to Dallas to start doing makeup in my sister’s shop (GOLDEN EGO BEAUTY). In less then 6 months I got a job at MAC! With no past experience in the beauty industry other than my own self taught ways! It was up from there. I have grown so much and I am continuing to grow. I am now a proud entrepreneur! I left MAC to do freelance makeup, as well as attend Esthetician school. I have now finished and I am so excited for what’s next to come for me. My brand is growing so much. It’s rewarding to know that my hard work and dedication has not been in vain.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has most definitely not been a smooth ride! Obviously stepping out on your own is horrifying. With a job at least you know, “well I have a check coming in next week”. Being an entrepreneur I have had to put myself out there! I had to trust that I wouldn’t let myself fail; Neither will God. When I first left my job, we had to move from our apartments and find another home during the HEIGHT of COVID. This was an extremely stressful time as prices were extremely high, people were obviously not moving out during this time and much more. Everything worked out as I trusted it would. I could go on throughout the list of struggles along the way, but what matters is the person I came out to be on the other side.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Makeup artist and now Esthetician! I would say that I am more known for how I apply makeup to were it mimics skin, but it can still be glam.
Any big plans?
I am looking forward to expanding my business baby! Opening up the esthetics side of my business is so exciting for me. I am ready to educate my clients on their skin beneath the makeup and more.
