Today we’d like to introduce you to MIND OF ARIEL.
It’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m not sure if y’all watch Insecure. But, there’s this episode where Issa (The Main Character) is on this panel as a creative speaking in front of a big audience, and they ask her a question about when did she find the stability in her entrepreneurship. Everyone else had a quick answer but she couldn’t really give an answer because she was still trying to chase her dreams and was going through the good and the bad.
I am like Issa in a way. I am multifaceted in many creative categories, and I have been trying to chase my dreams for some time now; It wasn’t until when covid shut down the world that I said.. Okay, I want to start pursuing my endeavors and ideas from when I was in High School seriously. I have always been into photography, design, music, wanting my own brand, helping and speaking to others, and art in general but I have dipped in and out a lot due to changes of mental health and environments. Everyday is forever changing, and where I am right now may look like it’s the best to others, and maybe not the best to some. For me, I believe that I still am trying to get to where I want to be. I’m knocking everything off the list one at a time, and I understand that everything in my life is orchestrated the way it needs to be for my path.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, it’s been very rough actually. People think as a creative artist that you will have ideas and projects coming out 24/7 but that’s really the least of the truth. There are times I can be going so hard and working on content, and then BOOM… I get into this spiral where I don’t want to do anything for months because of burnout, or sometimes feeling like the content isn’t enough for the masses. Also having to deal with some people who don’t see your vision sucks, but as I have grown I have learned to tune out negativity and continue to stay on my course, I see that it’s working out for me and I plan on sticking to it.
Lots of times I get in this position where I am stuck and I can write down so many ideas, and have all these things I want to do, but If I’m not there mentally or if I’m in the midst of chaos, a lot of ideas will be ideas, and sometimes I will wonder when I will bring them to life. Currently, I’m majoring in psychology so just being able to take my classes and understand how we as humans react to things in my life, has put me in a place where I do understand it is okay if these things happen during times where I want to push out projects and content.
I will always put myself/my mental first over everything else.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
You know when someone asks me what do I do, I always have to think of what thing do I tell them first.
I am a multifaceted creative artist with a podcast called THE MIND OF ARIEL PODCAST that is on Apple, Spotify, Anchor, and other streaming websites. I am working on a brand called THEMOABRAND. which is an urban luxury brand that I am trying to get started by Winter 2023. I am a photographer; my favorite style of shooting is architecture, street, and nature; I also do graphic design work.
I am pursuing a PhD in Psychology to become a Psychotherapist and I am working to start a non profit organization and have at least 2 creative studios; with one specializing in helping artists with mental disabilities so that they can meet others and have a safe space to create art in and also get counseling.
I am known for all of my different parts of creativity, but the main thing that has the floor right now is my podcast. It has listeners in over 13 countries right now, and has been growing everyday. I am super happy about it because it took some time to be able to set up a mic and talk to it without people sitting in front of me; When I first put the podcast out it was really rough but people actually enjoyed it. I think people like my authenticity, and I have grown to just dive in with my subjects on it. I talk a lot about my spiritualism, the roads of success as an entrepreneur, dealing with people, working on inner self, and just inspirational content while also being funny here and there; that alone makes me feel like when it comes to podcasting I’m very much different because nowadays, people create podcasts and the content they talk about means nothing truly to the world.
As for me as a creative in general, I think what really sets me apart from others is not trying to be so different from everyone, but standing true to my identity and how I perceive myself to be. Lots of people want to be different but it’s not authentic, you can always tell when people are just trying to be a certain way for the crowd. It’s really best to just learn who you are and stand on that and grow everyday; and that’s what I do. Whether I take a break from content for months, or if I’m putting out content everyday… I will always be true to my identity.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Man… A lot of my supporters are people who are strangers, that I have never met before. Even people who I meet on the day to day basis and network with. I really appreciate the following that I have as well, they are always supporting me and being a light to my work and that’s what makes me keep going and continue. I am thankful for everyone honestly.
At one point I was upset when I felt like the people who I feel should be supporting me the most (some friends and family), weren’t doing so; but I realized that I can’t even shed light to that because I have an overflowing amount of support in general. I am so grateful to be growing the way I am, because it’s like I expected it but then I also didn’t think it would start rolling in as soon as I really started taking the initiative to pursue all my passions.
Thank you to everyone seriously, and thank you to the people who I talk to on the day to day basis who send out positivity; you know who you are. <3
